Cans might seem convenient, but there\’s evidence to suggest that the chemicals in them are harmful to your health. A good rule of thumb is that canned beverages, meat and fish are less likely to result in damaging BPA exposure because they have lower acid levels, but items like soup and vegetables tend to react with the can and are thus more likely to cause problems.
If you\’re time poor and like the convenience of cans (as well as the price) – have a look in the dried goods section. Dried chickpeas and beans, for example, are incredibly easy to rehydrate and cook. You can also stock up on glass jars and start preserving your own fruit and veg, and putting ready meals in the freezer.
